(August 11th, 2022 GATLINBURG, Tenn.) Top 5 Family Fun Things to do at Anakeesta this Summer!
1. Snap a photo of your favorite Sean Kenney, Nature Connects Lego sculpture before the exhibit ends
Anakeesta has always been a place that celebrates natural beauty, but never quite to this…scale. This summer you will find more than a dozen lego sculptures as part of a special art exhibit, Sean Kenney’s Nature Connects series. These are not the lego constructions of your childhood, we’re talking about a peacock that took over 600 hours to build and a dragonfly with over 60,000 LEGO bricks to name a few!
Make it a game of who can find all 15 garden-themed sculptures first! Ready, set, go! No really, go. The exhibit ends on September 4th.Â
2. Watch a Smoky Mountain Sunset with the people you love
Everyone loves a good sunset, especially one from a mountaintop that overlooks the Great Smoky Mountains. Now, you might enjoy them a little differently. Perhaps the kids would prefer to watch it from the splash pad while mom and dad prefer to watch it from a rocking chair with a cold drink in their hand, but hey, you’re all together and enjoying the same thing. Call it a win.
3. Cool off with some ice cold refreshments
Anakeesta has plenty of ways to keep you cool this summer. Grab a fresh squeezed Bill’s lemonade from the Watering Can in Vista Plaza, a hand-dipped ice cream from Pearl’s Pie in the Sky or a local brew from the Tap House. You know what we like to say, we’ve got something for everyone!Â
4. Dance to live music at Black Bear VillageÂ
Thank goodness for kids and their lack of inhibition. They’re always the first ones dancing when the music starts and sometimes they’re the only ones that can talk the rest of the family into joining.
We’ll have live music every Wednesday-Sunday from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Black Bear Village. So come on, twirl those kids around and let them teach you some moves you didn’t know they had!Â
5. Challenge your family to a friendly competition on a race down our dueling zipline
There’s a reason we named it the dueling ziplines, not the dual ziplines. What better place to show your competitive edge over your kids than racing down a 1,100 foot long zipline over a mountain? Don’t worry, it’s as safe as it is exhilarating! Now, time to make some wagers! We also have the one-of-a-kind Rail Runner Gatlinburg Mountain coaster for the adrenaline junkies in your family.
