GATLINBURG, Tenn. — Starting June 1, Anakeesta is asking guests to support the education of Sevier County students and change their lives. Through the month of June, each guest will be able to “round up” their ticket, retail, or food purchase for the Sevier County Partners in Progress “Round Up” education program.Â
The nonprofit organization was created in April 2016 to help Sevier County students get to and succeed in college. Their tuition fund assists high school students in the county with dual enrollment classes at Walters State Community College and with students pursuing a four-year degree at East Tennessee State University in Sevierville. All of the money raised by Anakeesta guests will go to the Partnerships in Progress scholarship fund. Â
With student debt in the United States nearing $1.6 trillion, programs such as Partners in Progress can assist local students in their dreams of higher education.Â
Megan Lewis, a recent graduate with a four-year degree and beneficiary of the program, said, “This gold cord around my neck is extremely near and dear to me. It signifies that I was a Sevier County Partners in Progress Education Foundation recipient throughout my time at ETSU. Because of this program, I am able to graduate with my bachelors degree 100% debt free!”
Guests who visit Anakeesta in June will be able to assist students just like Megan in their educational journeys. For more information about the Partnership in Progress foundation, go here.Â
