GATLINBURG, Tenn. — More than $5,000 was raised by Anakeesta for Friends of the Smokies thanks to East Tennessee residents. The park’s week-long Local Appreciation Event, which ran from May 10 to May 16, 2021 allowed Sevier, Knox, Cocke, Hamblen, Jefferson and Blount County residents to enjoy the beauty of the Smokies from Anakeesta Mountain for just $5.
Not only were residents allowed into the park at a discounted rate, but a portion of their admission ticket purchases have gone to benefit Friends of the Smokies. The nonprofit organization assists the Great Smoky Mountains National Park through project funding.
On May 25, Anakeesta was pleased to present a check of $5,071.00 to Friends of the Smokies Executive Director and CEO Tim Chandler.
“We’re incredibly grateful for Anakeesta’s generosity and we thank everyone who made this contribution possible by participating in Local Appreciation Days,” said Chandler. “Anakeesta’s partnership with Friends of the Smokies is a testament to their commitment to preserve and protect Great Smoky Mountains National Park.“
Anakeesta is currently in the midst of its first annual spring celebration, Blooms and Tunes. The event features whimsical floral sculptures, spring-themed menus, and live music all through the month of June. Go here to learn more.Â
